Ammmmmazing! Fat Daddy Bake Shop!

I almost died when I discovered this awesome shop on Etsy today! Fat Daddy Bake Shop opened in July and is doing really well. It's easy to see why when you browse through her delicious store.

I checked out one of her cupcakes and am so impressed by her ingenious new way to make and sell cupcakes (patent pending!): baked in a small mason jar! Not only is it adorable but really practical, and you can put a lid on any you don't finish in one sitting (not that I can imagine that considering how mouth watering these look). Each jar supposedly feeds 2-3 people (not in my world!) and is only $5.00.

There are many varieties of cupcakes and other baked treats, so check out Fat Daddy Bake Shop today! http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=5235881

Ohmygod ohmygod ohmygod!

Oh...my...god! About a year ago my mom and I went up to LA so I could tape an episode of Craft Lab on the DIY network with Jennifer Perkins. It was so fun and so nerve wrecking (wracking?) and all this time I didn't know when/if it would air! Today I found that it actually has a time slot!!

Since then, Jim and I pared down our expenses and I don't even get that channel anymore! But that's okay - I'll just go to a friend's house to watch and tape it.

Oh, god, I hope I don't look too ridiculous! Tune in and find out! :)

Kup Kup, Take Me Away!

Kup Kup Land Scenery 01, originally uploaded by kup, kup.

I have been a Kup Kup fan for quite a while, and looked through her Kup Kup Land set on Flickr today. These handmade little scenes are so incredible! I love the colors, textures, and dimension. It's like a fantasy land without having to be in technicolor.

Isn't this gorgeous? Check out her other photos by clicking on the link below the photo.

Home Page Love!

This morning I was pleasantly surprised to hear my Candy Cane Soapsicles made the home page on Etsy.
Yay!

With a headache that has lasted 3 days and heartburn that is keeping me from sleeping well, this was good news I really needed. :)

Gearing Up

It's not even Halloween, yet my year feels like it's already over! I've given my notice to start my maternity leave on Oct 12, Althea's due Oct 27, and I'm planning orders for the next 2 months.

Next year Erin (my awesome contractor) is preparing to make 4000 soaps per month for Soapylove. As it stands, I think this quantity will be quickly filled now that I have 2 distributors, a big private label customer, and one other big account. It's very exciting!

We'll see what happens, and of course, I'll keep you posted! :)
Have a great day!

Heartburn and Fatigue - a typical pregnancy!

Sorry I haven't posted in a little while. I've been so busy and also very tired! I shipped out my biggest order yet, 1200 soaps, on Monday and have been trying to keep up with Etsy, my other wholesale orders, and some special requests. I'm over 33 weeks pregnant and my heartburn is raging! But I'm very excited about some very strong interest in Soapylove and am certainly not complaining.

I hope to finish a batch of S'more soaps that have been half done for 2 weeks so I have something new and fun to show you! But a night to just crash on my couch and watch Mythbusters with Jim would probably do me a lot of good. Until then, have a great week!!

New Apparel Biz Blog!

After starting a thread at The Switchboards Forums and finding how many designers have questions about the industry, I decided to start an advice blog specifically for apparel and accessory designers. I have over 10 years of experience in fashion, covering a gamut of products and roles, so I am excited to offer some help to anyone getting started (or just needing some new tips).

Check it out at www.apparelbiz.blogspot.com.
Thanks!

Feel the Love with New Soapylove Goodies!

One of the things I think people like about Soapylove is the photography and fun "fantasy" popsicle designs. Well if you don't need soap but want to have a little bit of Soapylove in your life, check out my new Cafe Press shop! http://www.cafepress.com/soapylove
I have tees, bibs, boxers, cards, and stickers, all featuring bright colorful soapsicles. They're awesome for kids (I have a big selection for babies and tots), and make great notecards! Share the Love for birthdays and holidays!

New Candy Corn Soapsicles

New Candy Corn Soapsicles, originally uploaded by soapylovedeb.

Even though I was withering from the heat this weekend, I managed to make my first batch of Candy Corn Soapsicles. They are a big improvement over last year since the colors won't bleed and they have adorable new ribbon! I will have them in my Etsy shop, but do offer bulk discounts if you want to give these to any of your favorite goblins for Halloween (if you want more than 12).

I can't wait for the weather to feel more like Fall, but that won't be until November knowing San Diego!!
