Shiny, Happy People

A few days ago I was getting caught up over at the Teach Soap Forum (a great forum for all kinds of b&b crafters). The melt and pour board has a great thread that is 55 pages and growing called "Flaunt Your Stuff." It is so fun to see what everyone's up to and share new projects!

Well, I was delighted when I saw redfishingirl post some links to new soaps she had made and one of them was her project from the Summer issue of Let's Get Soapy! That's her picture above. It is so great - what a beautiful rainbow she created!

Also, she mentioned that she even did a melt and pour soap party with instructions from that issue. Here's what Heather told me about it:

It was my daughter's Pre-k Class with 15 five year olds. Your video and tutorials made it so easy. And the signs were just perfect! The other mom-helpers I had didn't have to ask what to do, even though they hadn't ever done it before.
That is so great! I'm thrilled to hear such glowing feedback!

If you have made some projects from any issue of Let's Get Soapy, I'd love to hear how they turned out or better yet, see your pics! Please email me anytime!

Soap Cupcake Pops and eZine Update

I know many of you are Bakerella fans like me, but one of my new favorite bloggers, Mais Kes Ka Fee (from France), has been truly inspired! She made cold process cupcake pops! Check them out here.

I recently blogged about Ka Fee's new eZine over at The Soap Lab. Definitely check that out, too. Can you believe it's her first one ever? Wow!!

Also, I am diligently working on the next issue of Let's Get Soapy, which will be available on Monday! It's a special edition, dedicated to The Soap Lab. You'll find brand new tutorials, cool techniques, inspirational photos to get you going, and a guest article from Naiad Soap Arts! Make sure you're signed up for the SoapyClub so you won't miss the early bird special (sign up box on the left hand side of my blog page).

And thanks to everyone who has reserved their copy of the new Soapylove book on Amazon!

Getting Busy in The Soap Lab!

For those who attended the HSMG Conference this week, my Typography Soap might look familiar. It was in on the Soaper's Showcase table (but in a small group called "display only" since I wasn't officially a member when I submitted my soap for the contest).

I made this design a few months ago and due to its popularity online with the graphic design community, I will be offering the Typography Soap starting on Monday in my Soap Lab shop. I'll also be making another batch of Writer's Block Soaps and possibly more Peace and Quiet Soap Bars. There will also be just a few of my custom Black Walnut soap dishes available, too.

Don't miss it! The shop opening will be very temporary!

Headin' Out for Some Soapy Fun!

Tomorrow, super early, I'll be driving to Palm Springs for the HSMG Conference! (click link for a video of the resort - so beautiful!) I can't wait! Along with that comes the mega-preparation of being away from my kids for 3 days, which involves grocery shopping and a daily childcare calendar for my husband. I actually feel a little guilty taking the time to blog right now.

Aaaanyway... I am looking forward to meeting some of you whom I have only met online, taking classes in all kinds of great subjects, swimming in the pool, talking shop for 3 days, and partying at night! It feels like I'm going to summer camp or something.

Okay, so enough about my excitement. If you'd like a little Soapylove fix while I'm gone, I have been posting quite a bit over at The Soap Lab since I'm working on the special edition of Let's Get Soapy, which will go on sale 2 weeks from today. Make sure to sign up on my mailing list to be notified of my early bird special! (sign up box in on the left hand side of my blog page).

Have a great week everyone and I'll write about it when I get back!

Get Ready to Be Inspired by Inspired Ideas!

Guess what? Mother's Day is on Sunday - and today is Wednesday! Do you know what you're doing for the Mom in your life yet? I don't. My Mom is really tough to shop for. But last night I discovered an incredible eZine called Inspired Ideas, and now I'm not sure what to pick!

Inspired Ideas is a great FREE eZine with 18 issues full of beautiful, feminine projects. Plus it's really fun to flip through the beautiful photos and collage-style page layouts. I'm torn between the photo decoupage votive candle holders and the cupcake flower arrangement. Tough call!

Ta Da! Soapylove's New Book Announcement!

This morning I was super excited to see that my book is now officially available for pre-buy on Amazon! Check out "SoapyLove - Creative Projects and Techniques Using Melt and Pour Soap" from North Light Books. It has 128 lucious, full color pages of tutorials and tips, with chapters about cutwork, color, molds, and unusual materials. The book is nice and big - 8 1/2" x 11" so you'll be able to see the photos very clearly!

North Light has published books by many crafters I admire such as Claudine Hellmuth and Jennifer Perkins, and has created some really funky-cool books like AntiCraft and DomiKNITrix. So I'm really looking forward to seeing the finished version of my book, too (although I've seen some of the inside layouts and they're really great!).

So "SoapyLove" is available for pre-buy right now at a substantial savings - only $13.59. The regular price will be $19.99! It even has the tutorial for my most popular Soapsicle - the Neapolitan (see cover). So snap one up and get ready for some serious melt and pour excitement!!
