Rocket Soap Pop recipe and video

Hello there Soapyfans, and welcome back Kin Community viewers!

Today's video shows how to make Soapylove's signature soap pops, but in a fun rocket shape!  The mold for this project is super easy to use and unmold.  Here is the full tutorial with links to the supplies.  Have fun!  (Oh, and there's a two-color version in my Soapylove book plus the classic Neapolitan Soap Pop, if you're feeling inspired!)

Supplies:

Pop sticks
Pot for boiling water
Cutting board, knife, pyrex cup.
Spray bottle with rubbing alcohol (optional)
Baggies, ribbon.
  • Cut clear soap base into cubes and melt in microwave (4 oz per soap).  Start with 30 seconds on high power and stir.  Repeat until soap is mostly melted, then stir until completely melted.
  • Add a few drops each of desired colorant and fragrance oil.  Stir well.
  • Pour into molds, to 1/8” from top edge of mold.  Spray with rubbing alcohol to pop any bubbles.
  • Allow a firm skin to form on the top of the mold, insert sticks.
  • Freeze for 30 minutes.
  • Use butter knife to push edge of mold away from soap.
  • Bring pot of water to simmer.  Remove pop mold from frame and dip mold into simmering water, holding soap by the stick.  Pull soap out of mold.
  • Wrap in plastic wrap and tie closed with ribbon around stick.  Tip: Wrapping soap in paper before inserting in plastic bag prevents the soap from sticking.

Exfoliating Glycerin Soaps recipe and video

Hello!  Welcome to the Soapylove blog!  If you're here via Kin Community, welcome!  This is the first of 8 videos I made with them, so make sure to subscribe and you won't miss a thing!  :)

Here is the full recipe for the Exfoliating Soaps, with links to the supplies.  I have also included a few more links to other soap projects you might enjoy.  Have fun and enjoy your smoother, softer skin!

Supplies: (all can be found at www.BrambleBerry.com)
  • White glycerin soap base (approximately 3 oz per bar)
  • Exfoliants (oatmeal, coffee, ground luffa, seeds, corn meal, etc)
  • Essential oil (I used Lavender and Orange oils in the video)
  • Basic mold such as the Heavy Duty Round
  • Cutting board, knife, pyrex cup.
  • Spray bottle with rubbing alcohol (optional)
  • Wrapping supplies (Shrink wrap, pretty paper, raffia)
Cut soap base into cubes, put into Pyrex cup, and melt in microwave.  Start with 30 seconds on high power and stir.  Repeat until soap is mostly melted, then stir until completely melted.

Add ½ to 1 teaspoon of exfoliant.  Add a few drops of essential oil.

Stir and stir until soap is starting to thicken and exfoliant neither sinks nor floats.

Pour into molds.  Spray with rubbing alcohol to pop any bubbles.

Allow to harden at room temperature, then move to freezer for 10 more minutes.

Unmold by pulling sides of mold from soap, invert, and push out with thumbs.

Wrap in plastic wrap and tie.
