Hello! Welcome to the Soapylove blog! If you're here via Kin Community, welcome! This is the first of 8 videos I made with them, so make sure to subscribe and you won't miss a thing! :)
Here is the full recipe for the Exfoliating Soaps, with links to the supplies. I have also included a few more links to other soap projects you might enjoy. Have fun and enjoy your smoother, softer skin!
Supplies: (all can be found at www.BrambleBerry.com)
- White glycerin soap base (approximately 3 oz per bar)
- Exfoliants (oatmeal, coffee, ground luffa, seeds, corn meal, etc)
- Essential oil (I used Lavender and Orange oils in the video)
- Basic mold such as the Heavy Duty Round
- Cutting board, knife, pyrex cup.
- Spray bottle with rubbing alcohol (optional)
- Wrapping supplies (Shrink wrap, pretty paper, raffia)
Add ½ to 1 teaspoon of exfoliant. Add a few drops of essential oil.
Stir and stir until soap is starting to thicken and exfoliant neither sinks
nor floats.
Pour into molds.
Spray with rubbing alcohol to pop any bubbles.
Allow to harden at room temperature, then move to freezer
for 10 more minutes.
Unmold by pulling sides of mold from soap, invert, and push
out with thumbs.
Wrap in plastic wrap and tie.

Love this video, Debbie! Did you have any trouble getting your exfoliant to suspend in the soap base?
Hi! I'm so glad you like it! The video didn't explain that it's good to stir the soap base until it thickens, making the exfoliant suspend in the soap. Otherwise whatever is added may sink or float (which was actually quite pretty in the case of oatmeal). This project is really simple and fun. It's hard to not get great results! :)
Great video, Debbie! It was timely too, because someone asked about using oatmeal on the Teach Soap forum so I included the link to this blogpost/video.
Hi Debbie!
Love all your videos! I had a quick question for you. Do you use regular white soap base or do you use Low Sweat base? I've noticed that my Low Sweat base seems to melt a little bit thinner than my regular bases. Was just wondering what you use and what your preference is if you don't mind sharing.
Thanks!
Hi Tami! I use regular white soap base, not low sweat. I haven't tried making this project with low sweat, though!
Thanks for your comment!
Love your videos. I am going to do this one right away. I would like to know what is the song that is playing during the exfoliating soap video?
